SHARED PAST, SHARED VALUES, SHARED FUTURE
On January 25, 2017, five days after the inauguration of the 45th president of the United States, The Netherlands Embassy in Washington, D.C. explored what the future of the partnership and relationship between the Netherlands and the United States could look like under President Donald Trump. The conversation was part of their goal to include interactive debate into our long-term strategies. The best way to predict the future is to create it.
The Netherlands Embassy in Washington, D.C. invited prominent American and Dutch scholars, politicians, innovators, security and economic experts for a conversation about this relationship. Trying to rediscover the centuries-old friendship between the two countries in public discussions, presentations and workshops.
For this event “Shared Past, Shared Values, Shared Future” Alissia was asked to do an Installation for several spaces in the Embassy.
By curating old & new art works together, we told the story of new and old innovations, landscapes, products of trade, traditions and more. These images can be seen as the continuation of old conversations and the beginning of new ones.
Manufactured and installed in collaboration with FaberExposize presenting photography by Scheltens & Abbenes, Arjan Benning, Cynthia van Elk and Lisa Klappe Photography and old Dutch masters from the Rijksmuseum.
